Can I use a local VNC client to access configurations?

Yes. When you log in, click on the 'run live test' button. At the top of the live test console, you will see a 'Live Test Settings' link. When you click that link, a dialog box will appear. Check the 'Use Desktop VNC Client' to start using a desktop vnc client instead of the builtin java based vnc client. We currently support 2 desktop vnc clients - TightVNC (Windows) and Chicken of the VNC (Mac). Both of these are available at no cost. In addition, we now support the use of OSX's Screen Sharing application on the Mac when accessing our site via Safari. See the faq's below for details of how to use each of these. The system should work with other vnc clients also.

What is VNC and why should we care?

What is VNC and why should we care?

VNC is the screen sharing

VNC is the screen sharing system we use on crossbrowsertesting.com. While you are not required to install any additional software to use our system, some users prefer to use a desktop client instead of the web based client that comes up by default. Desktop clients tend to give slightly better performance, but just slightly. I hope this answers your questions.

Thanks,
Mike
