Do you offer a trial of your service?
Yes. Our subscriptions come with a free one week trial that provides you with up to one hour of testing time that week with no commitment on your part. At the end of the one week trial, your package will start. You can cancel your trial at any point before that time and your credit card will not be charged.

Poor
(1) I didn't see any mention of the 60minute limit when I signed up, and nothing was mentioned in the email confirmation. I signed up expecting to get a 7 days free trial AS ADVERTISED. If it's 60 minutes, be honest and say 60 MIN FREE TRIAL. (Given the speed, who is not going to use the 60 minutes in 7 days anyway!)
(2) I lost a whole heap of my 60 minutes with the system being so slow I eventually gave up on it.
The actual system is good when it works, but this "free trial" was misleading and there was obviously some load issues for some of the time when I was trying to use it.
Sorry for the poor
Sorry for the poor experience. Last night from around 8:50pm we had system trouble with our hosting center, so your last few sessions (and definitely the last one) would have had trouble. We are pretty open about any service outages when they occur, and this was posted out on our twitter account (https://twitter.com/xbrowsertesting) to publicly let our customers know we were having trouble. I understand there is no way you would have seen this notice, but I do want to show we are at least open and transparent about publicly showing when we have trouble, outages, etc. On the trial, we show it on the signup page on the very first line where we talk about it being a 7 day trail. I have attached a screenshot showing where we discuss it in a direct email to you. All of our plans have limited testing time, including the trial, and we do show this limit next to each plan. With the trial, you have 7 days to run tests, but it is limited to 60 minutes of total testing time. We run real hardware to provide the service, and have banks of mac minis, iphone and ipads, and tons of VMs for the Window configs. When you request a iPad, for example, a physical ipad is dedicated to you for the duration of your test. These resources are spread across tons of different physical hardware and we have wide coverage, but by necessary the resources are not infinite (ie we cannot just spin up another physical iPhone 4s off of Amazon S3, etc). Because of this, we limit the trial so we do not have trial users impacting our paying customer base.
I looked and can see that you cancelled your trial. We like our potential customers to have a good experience, and hate that your first experience was while we were having network issues through our hosting company. I have contacted you through your email to setup another trial.
Thanks
Ken
What happens if I use my 60 minutes in the first day?
Hello there
I am just wondering how the trial period works. Is it 7 days or 60 minutes of usage (whichever comes first) or is it 7 days. The reason I ask is what happens if I use the 60 minutes allocated in the first day ... will I have to wait until next week before I am able to make use of the time allocated to the remaining account?
Looking forward to your response.
Thanks
Using your minutes up before the trial
If you use your minutes up before the 7 days trial is over, the system will ask you if you want to start your subscription.
Great question!
How do you cancel?
How do you cancel? I cannot find a cancel subscription button anywhere.
The cancel trial link is on
It is on the My Testing Center page. We have added a new FAQ titled How do you cancel? I cannot find a cancel subscription button anywhere? with a photo highlighting this link.
Well that doesn't work so
Well that doesn't work so well for me - the reason I want to cancel is that clicking on "My Testing Center" hangs my browser (with 100% CPU usage) every single time I've tried it. Therefore, going through that page to cancel my subscription is not an option.
I would suggest that adding a subscription cancellation link to your "Contact Us" page would be a really good idea.
My guess would be that either
My guess would be that either flash or java is causing the browser to hang on your machine. The my testing center page has both of these elements on it. We have not seen this issue, however, so I am not sure. As it would impact every customer trying to use the system (not just selectively those trying to cancel ;>), I believe it is an isolated issue but we will keep our ears open to see if we see a pattern.
This would keep you from being able to use the system to test with. My suggestions to correct the issue would be:
1) To see if it is java causing the issue, go to http://javatester.org/ and click on the 'Test the version of java you are using'. This test uses the same technique we do to verify the version of java. If it hangs your browser, it would point to an issue with java in your browser.
2) It could also be flash. You might want to go to our demo page at http://crossbrowsertesting.com/demo and see if this locks your browser.
3) Try a different browser, or reboot your box.
We have canceled your trial and sent you a photo of the cancellation confirmation.
Thanks
Ken
p.s. I just looked at the logs and see you were accessing the site via linux. There is a known issue with using GCJ Java, which is the default. I will contact you directly with this information, but wanted to post a link to the FAQ that covers this - http://crossbrowsertesting.com/faq/i-tried-access-your-site-ubuntu-and-i...

FYI - Pointy and I corresponded on this problem. The issue with accessing the Testing Center page was corrected by turning off the "Adblock Plus" Firefox plugin.
new account does not work
I logged in and tried the free trial but every time I try it tells me I need to buy something.
Select a package and enter credit card to activate free trial
You will need to go to the pricing tab and select a package and enter your credit card information to activate your free trial of the service. You can try the service for up to 7 days at no charge. If you like the service and wish to continue your subscription, do nothing. You will automatically be billed after 7 days and be billed monthly thereafter until you cancel your subscription. If you do not wish to start your subscription, just cancel your account in the 'Account Tools' area on the My Testing Center tab before the end of the 7 day trial period.
There is only one trial allowed per person. We use your credit card to limit abuse of the one week free trial by users just creating new accounts continually.
