I am getting a blank screen (white or black) when using Screen Sharing desktop vnc client on Mac OSX

To correct this, you need to configure the screen sharing app to run in 32-bit mode instead of 64-bit mode. This reduces the occurrences of the black screens.

To set the screen sharing app to run in 32-bit you need to edit the info for the app. Do this by opening a Finder window, clicking on your main system hard drive, then going to /System/Library/CoreServices directory. Select the Screen Sharing then press the "More info..." button to see the info panel:

Check the box next to "Open in 32-bit mode".

Relaunch your session and the screen sharing app.

I believe the 32 bit option

I believe the 32 bit option was introduced with Mac OSX 10.6. I have not seen the pre 10.6 screen sharing app having the issue with the white screen, but I am not sure that a ton of our user base is on 10.5.8.
Thanks

No 32 Bit Option

Does this only apply to particular versions of OS X? I'm running 10.5.8 and following the instructions exactly, I don't have that checkbox, just the "Open using Rosetta" and "Locked" boxes.
