Yes, it does. By default, Ubuntu utilizes GNU GCJ java. The builtin java based VNC client we use needs Sun's version of Java to work properly. Either download Sun's Java or use a desktop VNC client to access the system. We have been told that the site works fine with the vinagre desktop vnc client which comes by default with Ubuntu.
