Screenshot retake functionality feedback, suggestion
Hello,
When I want to retake only a few screenshots out of a larger set, the current system forces me to either 1) retake the entire set or 2) retake the ones I want, one at a time.
The latter choice would seem to be quicker and less taxing on the service's resources but it's very awkward in practice. It breaks out the retaken screenshot into its own set of one. The "retaken" screen shot of the original set is not updated. Over time this will splinter a set horribly.
My suggestion is that there be checkboxes next to all the "retake" links above each screenshot. Then somewhere on the page would be a button to "retake all checked". By default those should retaken screen shots should be updated in the original set, not broken out on their own.
Any one else feel the same?

I agree.
There is a little more granularity with the current system that I want to make sure you are aware of. If you click on any of the 'filter' links at the top left of the screenshot results page, you can filter by OS, browser type, resolution or status. These filter links are a great way to say 'Let me only see IE screenshots'. You can then click the 'repeat X shown below' link to retake the currently visible screenshots.
That being said, we still need to provide the ability to select any 5 screenshots and say 'retake'. We are planning to improve this interface, and this will definitely be included. We also need to layer the 'history' of the screenshots underneath each screenshot. Currently, there is a 'list test results' view which shows the old test runs from a screenshot. We need to present those differently so there is just one screen which shows the all the latest version, with the ones that were just retaken highlighted or otherwise easily distinguished. We will also need a link to see historical results for any particular os/browser/resolution combination. Doing this should keep the results for a given url grouped together better.
Great suggestion!
